Music video for “Survive,” Matthew Rineer’s first independent single as heard on Nashville’s Lightning 100, WRLT 100.1 FM. Directed by John Paul Penrod (www.vimeo.com/jpp). Cinematography by Jeff Dolan (www.dolanpro.com). Shot on a Canon DSLR using only the available city lighting for exterior shots.

1 –  i’ve been booked for a new faces night at the basement on august 9. i will be playing with a lineup of artists including pedal stills, lindi ortega, and stephen sebastian. the evening starts at 8pm. i have to say that the basement is my favorite venue in nashville, and i’ve always wanted to play there. so excited for this show.

2 – the official music video for survive is finished. it will premier on the internette sometime within the next two weeks. i’ll keep you posted on the details of exactly when that will be. we finished editing a few days ago, and ended up with a sharp looking final product. john paul penrod‘s directing and editing talents really brought out the emotion that i was feeling when i wrote the song two years ago. it’s beautiful in all of its 1080p splendor.

3 – i’ve been in the studio working with good friends james sweeting and aaron broach on a song called “violet” that we cowrote together last february. the cowriting process was so much fun – these guys are real talents and great to work with. this week i”ll be back at the art house with james to record lead vocals for the song. i’m honored to have the opportunity to work in such an inspiring environment with such good friends.

survive music video – update. much editing progress has been made and we are close to being finished. i’ll be reviewing the rough cut for the first time THIS wednesday. from there we’ll make minor changes if need be, and then it will be complete for all to enjoy. in the meantime, i offer you this still from the actual video. we shot in downtown franklin. i’m standing at the light at five points across from starbucks. i look blue, bearded, and emotional, which is what we were going for. i’ll keep you posted on the official release date.

exciting news! my good buddy JohnPaul Penrod is going to be shooting/directing/producing a music video for “Survive”. we’re currently discussing the direction we want to take this project, but it’s looking like it will be a performance-based video with some sort of a side plot happening. lyrically, it’s a pretty descriptive song, so we feel like we can paint a vivid picture of the words. looks like we’ll be shooting in just a few short weeks on june 5th. i’ll keep you guys posted!!

thought ya’ll might enjoy this photo of myself and the kind fellows that helped me out a few weeks back when i played my first show. the drum & drumsticks are representative of julian, quinn is playing the mandolin, and james is on the bass. that was a fun couple of weeks preparing for that evening.
